A Teaching Tip of the Week - Rainbow Words

By: Terry L., Primary Teacher

"To practice spelling words, I have each child choose one crayon. The students work in groups of three. Each student is given a worksheet, and he or she writes the first word on the worksheet. Each student does this at the same time. They then pass only the paper to the right and trace the word with their crayon. They use the same color crayon they initially selected. They then pass the sheet one more time and trace the word. When each student receives his or her paper back, he or she writes the second word down and the process is repeated. Each child will receive his/her paper back with the spelling words traced 3 times...Rainbow words."
