Teaching Tip of the Week - Always Have a Good Book
Handy |
| |
By: Diane, 3rd Grade Teacher: New York City
"Always have a book to read from when you find that
you have "5 minutes left to go." Choose a book that
you know will be interesting to your students and is
related to what they are learning. Tell them that you
will be reading five minutes from this book when you
have any time left...be it at dismissal, before lunch,
transition time before specials start, or any other
free time. It tends to calm students down before they
are on the move. It is also a good way to develop listening
skills and appreciation for story time."

Jokes You Can Tell in Class
Old Sam Johnson goes to his doctor complaining of aches
and pains all over his body. After a thorough examination,
the doctor gives him a clean bill of health.
"Sam, you're in excellent shape for an 85 year-old man.
But I'm not a magician - I can't make you any younger,"
says the doctor.
"Who asked you to make me younger?" says Sam. "You just
make sure I get older!"
