A Broom's Story - The student will be able
to explain point of view and write a story from a witch's broom's point
of view.
Bat Mobiles - In this lesson, students
create Model Magic bat mobiles. Each mobile has a model of a bat and several
bat facts listed on it.
Black Cats - In this lesson, students
will choose whether they think black cats are bad luck or not and then
write a persuasive piece about their point of view.
Candy Collage - The student will be able
to create a collage from drawings of his favorite Halloween candy.
Candy Corn Poetry - Students can create
poetry in the shape of a candy corn. The six word poem is a fun way for
them to share what they like about Halloween.
Candy Graphs - The student will be
able to make a bar graph showing how many people like four different types
of Halloween candy.
Creating a Potion - The student will be
able to create a unique potion, explain what it does, and give step by
step directions for how to make it.

Halloween Safety - In this lesson,
students help others stay safe at Halloween by creating a poster of safety

Halloween Then and Now - Students investigate
what Halloween was like in the early to mid 1900's and compare it to what

Superstitions - In this lesson
students research the origins of superstitions and either defend or refute
the claims that they are true.
The Average Temperature on Halloween Night
- In this lesson students will look at the temperatures on October 31st
over the past ten years, graph them, and find the average. Then they can
discuss whether they think this year they will need to wear a coat or
not.
Weighing Pumpkins - In this lesson
students will estimate how much different pumpkins weigh. They will then
weigh the pumpkins to see how close their estimates were.

Day Nightmare- This book is a good fit for a reluctant reader because
the story is spooky, the reading level is not overly challenging, and
it is fun for students to feel like they have control over the story.

Path- Students will read and predict what happens next. Students are

incorporating the different aspects of a story (character, setting, plot,

Skeleton- This lesson will help children learn about the major bones
in the body. Students will also learn how bones are put together to form

Stories- Choose stories from the books that you want to read in class.
You may not get all of the stories read, or students may want to pick
one of their favorite stories themselves, but have a game plan.

Witch- In this Halloween geometry lesson, from California State University,
Chico, students make witches using geometric shapes. They practice cutting
and pasting skills, and they learn to name triangles, rectangles, squares,
and circles.
